The Plan

Did you know that Colorado has the lowest obesity rate of any state in the nation, hovering around 18-19%? It’s easy to see why.

I, for one, became much more active in the months and now year since moving here from California. I’ve been riding my bike to work most days and enjoying the lovely outdoors we have here. I’ve also, probably with the help of my bicycle and a more sensible diet, have put off around 30 pounds.

I’ve hit a weight loss plateau as of late, but I’ve felt myself continuing to get trimmer. It’s really a remarkable thing.

Now, if I may be facetious for just a moment, it’s all about to come to a crashing halt. I am flying out to Clovis next week, at which point, I shall subject myself to the buttery and greasy missives of our chefs at the Blue Pride Cafe. I imagine I’ll come back having found those 30 pounds.

Or not. :-)

Dude, you must really love BP if you’re planning on packing on 30lbs. :)

About 2 miles of my morning ride are on surface streets to from the bike trail. My biggest fear is getting hit by a car. Let’s just say there’s no “Share the Road” signs around here.

The trail is officially for bikes, but I’m the *only* regular rider (there’s mostly walkers). Stark contrast to the Ft. Collins.

You really don’t have to eat at BP. There are healthier alternatives to be had around Clovis. You could join us on a stroll to Subway for example.

I’ve been riding pretty heavily as of late and I must say the cars are freaking me out. Someone actually honked at me for being in the left turn lane. I think we get confused with pedestrians too often and many think we do not belong on the road. Basically, here, if there is no bike lane or a sidewalk you shouldn’t bike there.
