Dish Network Billing
September 30th, 2007 | by Sean |Dish Network provides decent television service for a good price. However, no matter what they do, they simply cannot handle any change of service without monumentally screwing up their billing.
Even the cable companies do a better job.
Case in point: I moved to Fort Collins, CO. They sold me on a free DishMover ($99.95) if I signed up for Digital Home Protection Plan ($5.99/month). So, I did that. Of course, the tech shows up, not with a DHPP agreement, but with a new 18 month contract. (in retrospect, given that I had 13 months still left on my original contract, re-upping another 5 months was worth it).
Post-move, I get slammed with the new fee ($5.99), a backdated fee ($6.36), a new ‘Programming Access Fee’ ($5.00), and a new premium channel ($10) and backdated fee (no idea). Apparently, I somehow subscribed to another premium channel.
My usual bill is around $80. This month, it’s $120.
Something like this has happened every time I’ve moved. They’re fairly apologetic during the verbal bitchslap I regularly have to give them, but this is getting ridiculous. I have half a mind to pay the cancelation fee and move my services either to Comcast or DirecTV.
Shame on you Dish Network.
