My Fellow Americans, Happy (belated) Independence Day. I hope yours was as fun as mine.

Lets not forget the meaning of this auspicious day now that it has passed, however. On that day, July 4th, 1776, the Second Continental Congress passed the Declaration of Independence. This monumental act set the stage for our independence from Great Britain and later the United States of America. For better or worse, this watershed moment helped shape the next two centuries of world affairs. 231 years later, we are still independent and free.
