Split Second Decision

May 16th, 2007 | by Sean |

At approximately 17:36 today, near the intersection of Peach and Gettysburg in Clovis, I very narrowly avoided a car accident.

It was a split second decision, unconsciously made.

Something drove me, unbeknownst to my conscious mind, to swerve hard right and miss a car whose own similar swerve would have otherwise collided with me. I shudder to think what would have happened if someone or something had been directly to my right.

I don’t know what precipitated the opposing car’s hard right swerve nearly into me, but I do know that I reacted very quickly and without thought. Further reflection is required on the meaning of this.

I think this means I have a new appreciation for those who say “it came out of nowhere!” At least, I think that’s what it means.
