A Quick Update Before…
September 26th, 2005 | by Sean |… I head off to school.
School has started for us all in the wonderful embrace of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. There isn’t much to report that’s newsworthy, but I’ll quickly go over the highlights.
I now live over on Bullock Lane near the intersection of Orcutt and Laurel. I commute to school via the city’s bus service, which offers virtually point to point service from my apartment to school via a quick transfer between buses downtown. It’s a rather lovely 30 minute bus ride, offering ample opportunity for a bit of relaxed studying and quiet reflection — or talking to my girlfriend (who is wonderful) on the ol’ cell phone.
I reported a network problem to Cingular several weeks ago describing the amazing lack of coverage at my apartment. Since then, it appears that coverage has improved slightly. I can now use my cell phone indoors and have seen it get up to 4 bars at various points. It’s still a little iffy, so I generally opt to leave the cell phone on my desk where it gets good reception and walk around with my bluetooth headset.
This quarter, I’m taking three classes: RELS 309 (Monotheisms — for GE and because of personal interest), MU 221 (Jazz Styles, GE), and PHYS 133 (General Physics 3, support course). I have a pretty light schedule, but I’m still transitioning from a 40 hour workweek to school. I’ve not in full force yet on the school – after 4 years, it’s really hard to bring up enough energy to care too much. I’m working on it though.
The kittens are little crazy balls of furr (and sometimes, even, purr). Lots of fun, more on Alex and Max later though.
We had a power outage for nearly a full day this past Saturday. A tree fell into some power lines a little farther down my street. Props to PG&E for getting power restored and having a pretty slick automated outage system.
Gotta run!
