The Count Every Vote Act
February 27th, 2005 | by Sean |Some 11 days ago, Senators Boxer and Clinton sponsored legislation that provide for “sweeping voting reforms” for the next election cycle. I think that we can all agree that the election system in the United States is not as good as it could be, with companies like Diebold making voting machines that generate spurious votes and have been the source of numerous software security vulnerabilities. Representative Tubbs Jones will sponsor the legislation in the House.
After a brief read of the press release and an analysis of the bill, I feel that I can support it. While I can see at least two sources of controversy in the bill itself, I feel that this bill is supportable by all. I encourage you, my loyal readers, to read the press release and then, if you support this idea in any capacity, to write to your representatives in Congress.
For those living around me, they are:
Representative Lois Capps (D-CA, 23rd)
Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA, sponsor)
Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA)
