Obligatory Updates
February 25th, 2005 | by Sean |I had a tough week.
I spent around 40 hours this past weekend S-M, and a bit on Tuesday writing a paper for my professional ethics class. I think the paper turned out OK, but there are a few places where I think it needs some work. I think my analysis is good, but I don’t think I built it up as well as I could have. I also feel that I should have fleshed it out more. Oh well. It clocked in at 20 pages of prose and 17 pages of supplemental material (appendices, title page, bibliography, etc.)
Big thanks to Sarah for helping me proof and edit it.
The rest of the week has been defined by copious amounts of stimulants. I Red Bull’d Tuesday night (was up ’til 2 Wednesday morning) to finish the paper, and again last (Thursday) night to study for a Physics midterm. Today will be the first time this week that I’ve gone to compilers and physics (this was already a short week). I hope Aaron understands…
This weekend (and probably some tonight) will be dedicated to catching back up in my compilers course. I am about a week and a half behind, having been busy with other priorities. I need to finish the last milestone (which Aaron generously gave me 70% for) and hopefully get some done on the next milestone. I’m not gonna stress about it this time though. I’m gonna get done what I can and call it that. I’m confident I’ll finish the compiler by the end of the quarter (even if I have to work on it through finals week.)
I’ve killed my senior project for this quarter. I need to get my other classes squared away first. Any work that I’ve done will be attributed to next quarter (so I’m not “losing” progress by putting it off).
This quarter has been the quarter from hell. At least I’m getting some time management skills in there. During my break after Physics and waiting for my 300 lab meeting, I prepared my 300 presentation for next week. How’s that for productivity?
On the work front, I’ve been a bum. I’m barely getting my hours this week (scraping by) having to fit them in when I can. More than that, my work laptop (a strikingly well-specced machine) has been having fits. It took a good 20 minutes to boot up today, so I guess it’s time to do some Windows maintenance.
haven is a wonderful machine. I love it. I’m probably gonna rebuild Panther onto spiritfolk and start bringing it to class with me. Actually use it like a portable computer, for it is.
Off to class…
