The Weeeeekend

… and a glorious weekend it was.

Sarah has already posted a fairly complete account of this weekend’s events.

First off, Yosemite pictures are up in The Gallery.

My Thursday started off with a fair amount of less-than-productive tomfoolery. I had to get some car care done, so I hopped over to Jiffy Lube, Kragen, David’s house, and Chevron. Thanks David for showing me (and then doing it for me;-) how to install an air filter! I got back to my house to pack at around 16:00, and took off for Fresno State at 16:08 or so.

I caught up with Sarah at around 18:45. We tried to hit BJ’s (insert normal jokes here – then continue reading) for a spot of grub, but got dissed by their 45-minute wait. We opted for pretty good fast food at Boston Market. A very tired Sarah and I made the trek back to Coarsegold where we watched Saved!. That movie is freakin’ funny!

We went to Yosemite the following morning. We stopped for some yummy sandwiches at Vons. I highly recommend the “Plymouth Rock” – a very Thanksgivingy-sandwich indeed. As I said, the photos are up in the Gallery. So go have a look… I’ll wait.

….

Ok, welcome back. Hope you enjoyed the photos.

We stoppped back in Oakhurst (if going Northeast: Fresno < ---> Coarsegold < ---> Oakhurst < ---> Yosemite on highway 41) for a sushi dinner at Oka. It’s refreshing to eat at a Japanese restaurant where the sushi-chefs actually speak Japanese. Sadly though, they (the waitress) misspelled “Arigatou” on the bill, leaving off the trailing “u” or “o.” I think that’s required in romaji, but maybe Erick can clarify? Anyway, I scribbled the “u” on in addition to a unintelligible “douitashimashite.”

There was some Love Actually upon our return to Coarsegold. I had only before seen snippets, small little disjoint segments of the movie. I really enjoyed it, even if I did make a few jokes about it throughout the exposition.

Saturday was good – slept in (0900-ish)! We got Harley (the dog) groomed… talk about a change – extra furry hairball to cute. The Incredibles is an awesome movie, we both recommend it :-) I found that Sarah enjoys the fine art of DDR, which, while unexpected, is freakin’ awesome! I introduced Sarah to the wonders of BevMo! (my favorite store in the whole world), where I picked up a few bottles of Leninade, Mexican Coke, and a 750 of Yukon Jack.

We missed Sonic, although now I know exactly where it is in Fresno. S’ok, guess that means I have to head over there again before too long.

Unfortunately, Sunday brought upon our parting of ways. We luckily had a few minutes of time to enjoy our coffee and each other’s company at Koffeeheads. She, sadly, had to go to work and I back to SLO to study for a class. We will always have IM, though :-) And on that note, we titled (terminology from E) each other that same night.

I suck as a story-teller. :-)

    I think you did a much better job telling the weekend than I did.

    Regarding romaji;

    I assume you (assume) the waitress left off the う when romanizing ありがとう. According to Wikipedia’s blurb on Hepburn Romanization, this is kosher (as it seems to allow just about anything with drawn o sounds, as long as you’re consistant).

    Really though, it makes sense to do it that way, seeing as most Americans (and Japanese I’ve run into) spell とうきょう as “Tokyo”, even though it could be romanized “Toukyou” or “Tookyoo” or a number of other ways.
